August 1, 2013 - Vacation's All I Ever Wanted

Well, a couple days ago my family and I returned to our home in El Segundo, California after 10 days of being away. We flew to Florida and on Sunday, July 21st we left on a cruise to sail in the Caribbean.
On that Sunday we got on the boat at around noon. Then my sister and I went to the pool where I tried to tan, or as I call it - de-white-ify. I didn't realize how pale I actually was until I saw a picture of me next to my sister. Then we walked around the boat and went to dinner at 8PM that night.

The boat

On Monday we arrived in Key West, Florida. We had been there before on a cruise we took two years ago, so we didn't wake up with the sun to walk around the island. Instead we got off the boat at around 11AM. As soon as we got off the boat we saw a kiosk that offered a see-do tour around the island. So we signed up for that, my sister, my brother, my mom, and I got the last 2 see-dos available for the day. So after an hour of walking around the island and doing a little shopping, we went back to the see-do place and started our one and a half hour, 28 mile tour around the island. It was a ton of fun. My sister and I were on one see-do and my brother and mom were on the other one. My sister drove ours for the most part, except when we had free time and drive however fast and however reckless we wanted, that was where I drove. We also went to a sand bar, where my sister and I gave ourselves facials with the sand because the guides told us that the sand there is what they used in salons. Next we drove to the most southern point of the United States, marked with a giant buoy and called mile 0. Then we made our way back to land. We left Key West at 4PM. As soon as we got back on the boat at 3:30PM I went out on our balcony and took a 2 hour nap. Then, we got ready and went to dinner. After dinner we went to the comedy acts.

Just chillin' in Key West with my bro.

On Tuesday we were at sea the whole day. Sea days are fun for the first few hours, then they get really boring. We went to breakfast, then I sat by the pool (in the shade - where  couldn't get burnt) and read a book, then I went to the gym, then walked around the entire ship. After that it was only about 2, so I went and sat out on the balcony and watched an episode of Sherlock and then took a nap. Then at 8, we made it to dinner. It was a formal night on the cruise, so everyone was wearing nice dresses and managed heels on a rocking boat.

Aren't we beautiful.

On Wednesday, we were in Grand Cayman. We had been there two years before also. So, we went to Margaritaville in the beginning of the day for their happy hour and then walked around the shops and saw a little bit of the city. We then had to be back on the boat by 3:30PM and we were back at sea by 4PM. I then went out to the balcony and watched an episode of Doctor Who and took a nap. It was extremely relaxing to sit in the warm weather and not worry about being sun burnt.  Then, after dinner that night we went up to the Lido deck and watched a movie on the big screen next to the pool.

At the beach

On Thursday we were in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. In Jamaica we took a guided tour in an air conditioned car. We went to the rain forest, go t to see where the local people lived, then we went to the Dunn's River Falls. There we climbed 1,000 feet (about 105 meters) up the water fall. That was really fun. We had a guide that led us up and also a man that filmed us and sold us the DVD after the hour and a half tour. Then we went shopping a little bit and then back to the ship. But before we went to the ship we stopped and bought some real jerk chicken - and that was delicious. Then, our boat left at 3PM. We went to the top deck and got some ice cream and watched us push off from the dock. We stayed out by the pool for a little longer. That night was another formal night, so after the pool we got ready, then went to the comedy shows and then to dinner, where we had escargot and lobster!

WE DID IT!

On Friday, we had another sea day... SO it was kind of a boring day with nothing to do. But, that night they showed Avengers on the big screen by the pool, so we watched that and then went back to the rooms to pack and sleep.

Then, on Saturday we had to wake up early and get off the boat and on our flight home. Now we are back to cooking and cleaning ourselves...
