July 13, 2014 - Fourth of July!

I did come back to the US before the Fourth of July, to be home for America's Independence Day. On the Fourth I first went with my mom and brother to buy bagels, I missed my fresh-made chocolate chip bagels while I was in Norway. They also gave me a free coffee at the bagel shop. I was happy because I got coffee, my mom does not like at in drink coffee now. She hates coffee and is telling me every reason to try to get me to stop drinking it.
Anyway, after we ate our bagels (and I drank my coffee) my sister and I went down to Rec Park. For all of you who are not familiar with El Segundo, Rec Park the park in the center of town where on the Fourth of July there is a small fair where people sell things and there is music and different types of contests. There I met one of my friends and saw a lot of people I knew. What I thought was weird is that everyone recognized me and was even excited to see me. I was thinking everyone would kind of forget about me becasue I wasn't the most talkative and popular person before I left. Also, I planned on pretending I was a foreign exchange student from Norway. So that plan was ruined... But, I guess it could actually be better that way :)
Afterwards I got a George Washington tattoo and one of my friends got a USA tatoo. Then, I watched a couple of my friends absolutely fail at the water balloon toss (they got out the first round when they were only about 5 feet apart). After that we went to a BBQ place for lunch, then walked back to the park. We then proceeded to take part in the pie eating contest. My friend finished her pie, but didn't place, and I didn't even manage to finish my pie. Next, I met up with my family again and then walked home (which I had to almost beg my mom to do, I miss walking so much).
My family and I were going over to our family friends' (The Olson's) house for dinner. But, first I had to bake my Fourth of July cupcakes. They were vanilla cupcakes with raspberries and blueberries in the batter, then with vanilla whipped cream as a frosting topped with raspberries and blueberries (YUM!).

My Red, White, and Blueberry Cupcakes!

Then we went over to have the bar-b-que, we ate some typical American Fourth of July food - hamburgers. Then we walked down to Rec Park to watch the firework show.
